Who We Are
House of Innis is a boutique practice. Three senior practitioners. No junior associates learning on your retainer. Every engagement is led by the people you meet at the first call.
Founder & CEO
Laura Innis is a serial entrepreneur and the strategic force behind House of Innis. Her career spans multiple ventures and industries — including a successful venue business exit in the UK — giving her a genuine operator's perspective that most consultants simply do not have. She knows what it costs to build something from nothing, how to scale it, and how to exit it well.
Her professional background covers international business, sales, advertising, HR, and specialist recruitment across some of the most demanding verticals in the market: AI, cybersecurity, biotech, pharma, scientific research, engineering, and animal health. She has worked with early-stage startups finding their first hires and Fortune 500 organisations restructuring entire functions — placing the people who now lead some of those teams.
At House of Innis, Laura leads strategy and client relationships. Her method is diagnostic first — she identifies where a business is bleeding time or money before a single line of automation is written. Every engagement she leads is scoped to deliver measurable ROI, not impressive-looking decks.
Co-Founder & Head of Technology
Diego's story does not follow a conventional path. He learned to code at the age of 10, and at 11 completed his first university course at Stanford in Computer Science — an early signal of a mind that was never going to wait for the system to catch up with it. He went on to earn a degree in Computing and Business Entrepreneurship, combining the technical depth of an engineer with the commercial instincts of a founder.
Before entering the technology industry, Diego served in the British Army — an experience that shaped his approach to systems thinking, discipline under pressure, and the kind of operational rigour that most people in tech only read about. He brings that same precision to every architecture he designs at House of Innis.
With four years in the IT and online gaming industry, Diego leads all technical architecture at the House — designing agent systems that are robust, maintainable, and built to outlast the engagement. His domain is the complex and the fast-moving: online gaming retention systems, real estate intelligence feeds, wholesale inventory automation, and marketing technology. He builds systems that integrate with what clients already use — no rip-and-replace.
Partner & Chief Security Officer
Doug Lakin brings a level of security expertise to House of Innis that is rare outside of government and the largest enterprise firms in the world. His career has taken him through Booz Allen Hamilton, CyberArk, and BeyondTrust, as well as classified engagements within the U.S. federal government — giving him a threat landscape perspective that is difficult to replicate and impossible to teach from a textbook.
His specialisms span privileged access management, AI-powered threat detection, identity security architecture, and post-quantum cryptography — a field that is rapidly moving from academic concern to operational urgency as quantum computing advances and legacy encryption standards face obsolescence. Doug ensures that House of Innis clients are not caught unprepared when that shift arrives.
At House of Innis, Doug leads all security engagements — bringing institutional rigour to businesses that deserve enterprise-grade protection at a fraction of enterprise cost. His approach is architectural first: identify the exposure, close the gaps, and build systems that hold.
Four principles that govern every engagement we take.
We don't build demos. Every system we deliver is in production within the engagement window, integrated with your actual tools, and measured against real outcomes — not slide decks.
Every agent, workflow, and automation we build is handed to you with documentation and training. We are not in the business of creating dependency. You should be able to run it without us.
We accept a limited number of active engagements at any time. This is a deliberate choice. It means the practitioners you meet are the practitioners doing the work.
If we cannot identify a clear path to measurable return within 90 days of engagement start, we say so before the contract is signed. We do not take mandates we cannot deliver on.
Most AI consulting firms are large enough that your engagement becomes a case study for a junior team. We are structurally different — a three-practitioner house that accepts only the mandates where we can move the needle.
We work with SMBs because that is where operational AI has the highest leverage. A workflow that saves a 5-person team 10 hours a week is transformative. The same workflow at an enterprise is a rounding error.
Our clients are owners, operators, and principals who are ready to modernize — not experiment. If that is you, we should talk.
